Peach trees and drought work at Harper and Junction
Clarence Durst reports moist sandy soil around 700 peach trees planted last winter on Burnet road despite July and early August dryness. Springs on Seth and Marcus Rode’s land dried, a rare event in seven decades. Water levels fall in Liano and Pedernales rivers. Buchanan Lake and Lake Travis at historic lows. Otto Rahe notes July rainless, June total 5.25 inches. Harper area shows resilience with decent soil moisture and strong local activity including Harper Centennial preparations and parade floats.
