Dynamite Blast Injures Two Men Near Comfort

A delayed fuse exploded as two men, Chester Kirchhoff and Ernc Boerner, approached dynamite set for fence post holes on FM 1621 near Comfort. Kirchhoff, severely injured, was moved to Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Boerner’s injuries were minor and he is at Fredericksburg Hospital.

Luther League Annual Outing at Enchanted Rock

The Luther League of St. James Lutheran Church held its annual summer outing on Friday evening July 28. Twenty two Leaguers and several adults traveled from Harper to Fredericksburg for a swim and then climbed Enchanted Rock followed by a wiener roast. A sing song campfire service led by Karen Dittmar closed the event.

The Friendly Sewing Circle met July 27 at 2 30 P M in Mrs. Paul Staudt’s home. Seven members and four visitors attended. Mrs R McDougall embroidered four cup towels and material was bought to make 12 towels. Next meeting set for Aug 31 at Mrs Alfred Kramer’s Harper home. bingo and refreshments followed.
