Grapetown 4 H Club Reports March Meeting Plans

Grapetown 4 H Club met Monday March at four o'clock with co assessor Mrs Kurt Kallenberg. Members shared gardening and sewing progress and discussed yearwork. Rainy weather slows gardening. next meeting set for Tuesday April 16 due to Easter Monday holiday.

Austin April 2 The latch string will be out for 65 000 University of Texas ex students as the Texas Round-Up homecoming swings into full blast April 4 6 Ex student officials announce Highlights include the Texas Relays on Saturday the Round Up Parade the annual revue and ball when the co ed sweetheart of the University is named One day will be Penick Day to honor Dr D A Penick veteran classical language professor and Longhorn tennis coach.

William Schlaudt Dead at 62 in 1941 Funeral Observed

William Schlaudt died April 1 1941 at age 62 born February 16 1879 in Fredericksburg. He married Dora Rusche October 31 1905. Surviving relatives include his mother four brothers five sisters and numerous relatives. Rev F A Bracher led services at Beckmanns funeral home April 3 with church choirs and burial in the city cemetery.

Loans to Texans exceed new home financing in February

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Little Rock reports February loans by 119 insured associations show 640 478 for new home construction and 708 926 for existing home purchases, reversing the prior pattern where construction loans led. Total 2 092 579 with strong funding available for buyers, builders, or refinancings.

Comal County Man Married Betty Spangenberg in 1889

On November 17 1889 in Comal County he wed Betty Spangenberg the surviving widow. Surviving children include Mrs Chas Calhoun of Fisc Store Mrs W F Habermann of San Antonio Mrs Chas Dolezal Mrs Lawrence Bur rer Robert Kaderli Albert Jr Roland Ar thur Willie and Gilbert Kaderli. Also two grandchildren two brothers three sisters and other relatives. Rev F A Bracher officiated at Schaetter's funeral home Friday morning. Interment was in the city cemetery.

New Texas Truck Law Promises Big Farm Savings

Agricultural lenders praise the new scientific truck load limit bill passed in the Texas legislature under the Dirt Farmer's Congress. The measure authorizes a 38,000 pound gross load based on 16,000 to 18,000 pound axles, with penalties for violators and expected annual savings for farmers and ranchers statewide.

San Antonio Spring Flower Show at Witte Museum

The San Antonio Spring Flower Show heads to the Witte Museum on April 5 and 6 1941. Doors run 1 PM to 9 PM Saturday and 9 AM to 9 PM Sunday. Exhibits include commercial displays and entries from seven Garden Clubs with roses bulbs lilies iris vines and flowering shrubs.
