The Gillespie County Selective Service heard call number four from state headquarters to report three men to Fort Sam Houston on February 11 1941. Local draft furnishes four inductees at a time with one additional man on previous call. Volunteers for training under the Selective Service are invited.
Draft notices list volunteers and next in line for the 1940 act. Applications for voluntary induction due by February 5 at the local board. Names included are Werner Wm Noffendorf, Charlies Holmes Moss, Erwin August Danz, Roman Joseph Hartmann with order numbers 68 87 97 98. William T. Lawson reportedly rejected for health after reporting at Fort Sam Houston. Local social notes mention visits by Mrs Spaeth and Miss Meta, and Kerrville visitors Mr Foley yay Clinton Brown Mrs Olive Parker and Fay.
The local AAA announces a Supplemental Cotton Program to voluntary reduce 1941 cotton acre age and to boost consumption goods. Farmers may reduce planting by any amount in 1941 and still receive full conservation and parity payments, with no effect on 1942 allotments. Stamps, worth 10 cents per pound of underplanted yield up to $25 per family for shared croppers, and up to $50 for tenant-operated farms, fund additional markets and jobs.

Mrs. Glen Hopf enjoyed a birthday dinner Sunday with V A Hopf and daughter Irene Alf red Kott and daughters Glen Hopf and the honoree.
On January 13 W M Kaiser bought several hogs from Theo Oehler. By Tuesday noon one hog was found missing from its pen in the Kaisers yard. After a failed capture attempt the hog returned Friday to the yard. Max Baumann and his dog helped pen the hog with the Kaisers. Kaiser cited thirst as likely the cause for the return.
