Editorially Speaking What Happened To The Work Ethic In America
The piece contrasts early American ideals of hard work with modern shifts from farming to mechanization. It notes Benjamin Franklin and Col Landon Carter as believers in labor, cites 18th century farming methods, and discusses 1975 unemployment near 8.5 million while labor shortages hinder hand harvests, suggesting Carter might have a stroke at today’s contrasts.
