War Department Lists Lt Clemens Fiedler Killed
The War Department announced that Lt Clemens Fiedler presumed killed on April 10, 1944 after his Mustang fighter plane was hit over France. He radioed his companion that he might bail out as fuel tanks leaked. no further word was received. A 25 year old Gillespie County native, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and three Oak Leaf Clusters. He is survived by his grandfather Bernard Fiedler, three uncles, two aunts, and other relatives.
