The Hill Country Horse Club arena hosted Youth Rodeo on Saturday April 10 drawing 167 contestants and a capacity crowd. Carla Rode crowned queen with runners up Kerrville’s Teri Britsch and Mason’s Terri Keyser. Event results list winners across poles, barrels, calf riding, roping, bronc and bull events by riders from Fredonia Ingram Kerrville and other Hill Country towns. The next Youth Rodeo is scheduled for May 29.

Grand Jury Begins Spring Term in Gillespie County
The Gillespie County District Court opened with Judge Marvin Blackburn in attendance. A 12 member grand jury, including foreman Curtis Frisbie and five women, convened to hear criminal cases and planned further sessions this week. A venue of 134 residents will be summoned for Monday April 19 for possible petit jury service.
