Letter to the Editor scrutinizes Cen Tex Electric spending
Fredericksburg reader disputes President Whitt and the board over using Cooperative funds to defend libel suits. He cites signatures opposing the use, questions legality, and challenges a mailed member ballot plus a 1954 Admin letter stating funds should not be used for such payments. He notes high operating costs under new management and defends prior low rates.

Government plants sold for 300 million dollars in bid vote
The House approved the sale of government owned synthetic rubber plants for 300 million dollars by a two to one margin. Built early in the war to replace rubber from Southeast Asia the facilities expanded rapidly and produced high quality output. Private ownership cited as better for competition and tax revenue while critics warned small businesses would lose a source of supply. The new owners pledged to supply nearly twice as much rubber as small fabricators could use at fair prices. Also notes remarks on small business rhetoric and a Washington visit by local figures Mr and Mrs W W Dees Brownwood and attorney C W Pollard Kerrville referenced briefly.
