Shelly County youth finish babysitting course statewide program
Fifty six Shelby County youths completed the Babysitting Child Care Course offered by the Shelby County Extension Service. The event included courses in Harlan Panama Earling Portsmouth Defiance Irwin and Panama Peppy Pals 4 H Club organizing efforts. Presenters and organizers included Sarah Bruck Connie Jensen Mary Beth Kaufman Marian and Mark Rosmann and extension home economist Mary Beth Kaufman.

Vocal selections by 4th and 5th graders were performed as Band and Vocal Parents met on November 12 led by co-presidents Shirley Herbst and Ronda Davis. They thanked bus riders and noted a corsage note from Julie Behrens. A new swing choir outfit was introduced and plans to pay about $100 for a College Band visit in March. Christmas concerts are set for December 10 and 17, with swing choir performing for seniors on November 21.

Persia Satellites Annual Family Night Draws 50 Plus Attendees
Persia Satellites held their Annual Family Night on Thursday November 13 1986 at the Persia Legion Hall with over 50 people including 40 members and their families. Special guests from Logan attended as potluck supper opened the event followed by awards for 4 H projects and officer recognitions. The evening concluded with plans for December Christmas caroling at the Sr Citizens Center, hot chocolate, a potluck, and a $2 gift exchange plus ornament making.

The Shelby County Garden Club met November 11 at 7 30 p.m. at Jack and Grace Knudsons with co hosts Margaret Larsen and Lillie Plumb. Eighteen members shared thankfulness. A letter invited them to Pella Garden Club's Christmas open house December 4 and 5. Plans include decorating the Baptist Memorial Home tree and delivering plates to former members. Goldie Hansen spoke on house plant care. The next meeting is December 9 at 6 p.m. at the 59er Restaurant for a dinner and Christmas party.
