September term district court opens with Bryson presiding
The September term of the district court opened Monday at nine with Judge B R Bryson of Iowa Falls substituting for Judge Fry. The grand jury finished its work and will reconvene Monday. Several indictments were returned but not public. Naturalization hearings postponed to February 11. Bar Association meeting and tributes to Porter and Scales noted. Jury assignments released for upcoming trial days. A traffic accident near Megan corner injured Mrs Timmons and Mr Hinshaw, who later returned home. Gerald Williamson hired to lead in store radio work with a new dish device promising longer reception.

Demonstrations on Tuberculosis and Swine Disease Held
In Hardin county farmers will attend demonstrations on tuberculosis in cattle Monday October 6 at Sherman at 9:30 a.m. and at the State Training School at 2:00 p.m. Four cattle will be shown two slaughtered at each stop with Dr. J A Barger assisting. Over 600 tubercular cattle have been shipped from the county and over 80 percent of farmers have signed petition to enroll in eradication. Two hog disease meetings follow October 3 on Tom Lawler Jr and Emmitt Morris farms with Dr K W Stouder diagnosing county pigs.

Bob Burlingame, Eldora High School graduate, earned advancement to the Sophomore English year at Grinnell College after passing the regular entrance exam.
