Local Girl Is Given Honor by 4-H Club

Ruth Chaney of Jackson township has been chosen by the Extension Department to represent 7,617 Iowa 4-H club girls at the International Live stock Show and Club Congress in Chicago. The outfit includes a dark blue flannel dress a matching slip undergarments a black velvet hat approved shoes and cot ton ribbed hose with an enlarged photo of Ruth and a record of material costs.

Eldora Symphony Orchestra Promises Notable Town Concert

The Eldora Symphony Orchestra will perform Tuesday evening at the M. E. church with an admission of 60 cents. A recent Treble Clef Club program drew hearty applause and locals are urged to attend the week after next for a high qualityLyceum style program. Also noted is a second Nutrition Lesson to be held tomorrow at Mrs. P. C. Weichman's home for Eldora, Clay and Union Townships.

Church of Christ to Host Every Member Canvass Nov 22

The Church of Christ calls all members to attend the Sunday morning service on November 22 for the Every Member Canvass with stewardship as the theme. Mr. and Mrs. Mus. A. Burns plan to attend November 29 with Mr. Byrne speaking both morning and evening, plus nightly services at 7:30. An invitation extends to all to hear them from the start of the meeting. The event will be at the Church of Christ with evangelists Mr. and Mrs. James A. Burns.

Christmas plans loom for Eldora business area

Eldora Community Club directors map a Hig Formal Christmas opening around the square and court house to attract Mildura shoppers. Santa and Mrs Santa will be welcomed by the Mayor as merchants stage festive displays. Hortense Reynolds to lead the setup with a temporary club secretary, aiming to boost Victoria as a holiday shopping hub. More details next week.

Social and club notes from a busy community evening

Stuart hosted guests including Mrs Ed Sehulta as forty partygoers attended the Married Merry Makers first dance of the season at the I O O F hall with Melody Boys Orchestra from Iowa Falls. Marshalltown visitors joined Kiwanis dinner guests and local birthdays were celebrated with family dinners and social afternoons at various homes and church groups planning future bazaars and Bible studies.

Local Social Events Highlight November City Federation

November City Federation meeting at the Library drew a strong crowd and approved twenty five dollars for the state scholarship and loan fund. District chair Greef spoke on district schools and introduced county chair Humphreys who outlined the year book and education project. School Days group recalled past school days at Edna Sauer home with a trip east description, recitations and a solo. Monday Club featured new member Nellie Turner and reviews of literary chapters by Porter Diehl Needham. Cradle Roll at M E Church hosted twenty eight babies with moms and helpers, games and refreshments as the cradle roll age group enjoyed the party.

William H Freed born July 20 1842 in Filkhart Indiana died November 14 1925 at his brother George Freed’s home aged 83 years 3 months 24 days. He never married lived with parents then brother George. Survived by siblings Mrs Sarah Klein Samuel Freed George Freed Frank Freed and Mrs Mary Swab with many friends. Funeral at Alice Church followed by burial in Alice cemetery.
