Eldora wins at Grundy Center in extemporaneous contest
Robert Burlingame of Eldora High School won the District Extemporaneous Contest held at Grundy Center High School on Friday night. Thirteen schools were represented. Burlingame spoke on Prohibition and faced an eight minute delivery. Beth Burgess and Thelma Bass took second and third for Iowa Falls and Marshalltown, respectively. judges included J B Miller OC A Morris and Leonard Racker. Contestants proceed to state level in Iowa City Friday night.

World Tourists Visit in Eldora on World Hike

County Home rebuild authorized for seventy thousand
The Board of Supervisors plans to spend up to 87000 to rebuild the County Home in fire proof, two story plus basement construction. Main section 84 by 86 feet with a wing 24 by 69 feet and future expansion, aiming for lower insurance costs. An election may be held June 2 and preliminary drawings and estimates are underway with Holtzman of Des Moines as architect and Canfield Engineering of Des Moines as structural engineers.
