Eldora retains the cup after a close contest at Alden with top honors in oratorical and dramatic classes. Marjory Gilbert Iowa Falls won first in oratory, Elba Engelking Alden second. Genevieve Wilbur Owl Falls first in dramatic, Blondine Stice Eldora second. Chas. Roth Ackley first and Lydia Nissen Eldora second in humorous. Judges were E. B. Improvements at the M. & St. L. depot remodeling progress
A twenty-man crew is remodeling the M. & St. L. depot with new girders joists floor and roof new windows and interior and exterior painting in dark red with black trim. The structure will be raised six inches above the platform, effectively giving Eldora a near new depot after ten years of need. Library trustee C von Krog named by Mayor Soper and council to fill vacancy from Roper’s resignation.
