Attendees from Iowa Falls Buckeye Lodge and guests Rev. W. S. Kite spoke, Dustin of Maxwell joined, and after the Lodge a oyster stew was served.

Mrs Stanley Martin Mra J D Leonard reports the sudden death of her sister in law Mrs Stanley Martin at their Evans ton Illinois home. Longstanding heart trouble over two years preceded the passing, leaving behind her one child aged payon years. The Martins’ son, a musician at Northwestern University, has been heard in Eldora. The Eldora citizenship school closes next Thursday with praise from local school board members for teachers Miss Anna Sheffield and Miss Fannie Duren. Mr and Mrs Earl Burke of Kanasey visit farmer sister Mrs U D Michael.

Receipts of cattle estimated at 26 000 with grades slumping 15 to 26 cents. top heavy steers at 11 dollars, bulk 8 ¾ to 10. Postmaster Reports Route Consolidation Becomes Effective
Word reached that Rural Route No 6 out of Eldora will merge with other routes and patrons will be served from this office, extending routes for carriers. The change takes effect April 16. Mrs Luella Hacker and son W P Hacker and Mrs Tom Duffy of Sterling were here for the funeral of W P RLON.

County Spelling Contest Set Under County Education Director
The County Spelling Contest will be held under the county superintendent of schools. The winner will represent the grade schools of Nordin County in a state final on April 6 at Des Moines where town champions are chosen. Much time has been devoted to preparation and many schools show strong interest. Hospital notes report Mrs. Samuel Dowd discharged Saturday. Wilbur Clemons, son of TG Clemons, underwent an operation Saturday night. Alfred and Mrs. Bloome welcomed a baby girl Sunday. Kate Holcomb had an operation Monday afternoon.

February wrap of the cow test reports 497 cows on rest and 278 completing full records. Finster and Martin lead purebred Holsteins and Jerseys with top yields of 16901 lbs milk and 618 lbs fat. Comparison shows higher production yields greater profit per cow despite feed costs, urging culling of low producers and improved ration.

Rural Schools To Have Declamatory Contest
The county preliminaries in declamatory contesting were held in Eldora and surrounding townships with winners advancing to the county contest at Eldora on April. Ruth Newhall Center school won first with The Story of Patsy, Eugene Nicholson second with The Bald-Headed Man, and other township winners included Lynn Sitchell Fairfax, Jane Noble Trughes, Muelle Doyte Fairfax, Beatrice Dreier Goose Creek, Lois Ziesman Center, and many more across Pleasant Union Clay and other townships. A nutrition course session on fruits and vegetables was held March 11 in Union with praise for Miss Baker and plans for a follow-up.
