Accidental Wagon Collision Injures Boy Verne Cowell
Verne Cowell son of Mr and Mrs Ray Cowell suffered severe injuries including a broken leg in three places after a counter wagon collided with a car driven by Mr Stephen Sayer near the Porter place. Mrs Sayer claims no hit occurred and that she only learned of the accident after returning and seeing the wagon overturned. The boy was taken to a hospital where his condition was improving.

Annual G. A. R Meet Closes At Marshalltown
The fiftieth annual encampment of the Town department of the G. A. R ended in Marshalltown with the election of Capt. William H. Needham of Sigourney as department commander. He won by eleven votes over Frank Dagle of Des Moines and his election was made unanimous. Delegates voted to hold the 1925 meeting in Mason City. New officers included D. B. Cowles of Ottumwa as senior vice commander and Orland S. Hartman of Marshalltown as junior vice commander. The veteran delegates praised Needham’s war record, noting service under Grant Butler Sheridan and Sherman, with participation in major Civil War battles and campaigns.

Last Friday evening the Eldora Kiwanis Club organized with 32 members signing by 6 pm. By tonight the count reached 46 with a goal of 50 as a field representative from Chattanooga aided the fledgling group. Temporary officers were Albert Steinberg president Geo Edwards vice president and Dr Stonebrook secretary. A permanent charter election and luncheon with a prominent International Kiwanis speaker are planned for next week. In a separate incident Walter Bond of Dike injured when a gravel truck driver lost control and crashed into a ditch. Bond recovered and returned home.
