Bloodhounds Traced Poisoned Chick Loss in Town
Bloodhounds followed a poisoning incident that killed 260 baby chicks belonging to Oscar Smith in the northwest part of town. The trail extended into the southeast before the event faded. Annual Hardin County School Picnic and Spelling Winners
The Hardin County school picnic at Eldora on June 11 drew a large countywide crowd. The forenoon featured a county spelling contest with eight winners. Harold Elerding, Blanche Moore, and Kathryn Packer placed first to third, each receiving checks from the Iowa Falls Community club. The first place winner will go to the state spelling contest in Des Moines. A program of drills and songs followed, and Rev. Robert Kinney gave a talk to the 93 eighth graders who received diplomas from the County Superintendent.
