The be whiskered House of David club visited Friday and fell to Eldora 9 to 0 behind Howden who pitched a strong game with 4 hits allowed and 10 strikeouts. Ed pitched well for Eldora, and the locals played hard, winning with superior pitching. Eldora beat Grundy Center 12 to 0 in the final, while Grundy had earlier defeated Wellabor g 12 to 0 in a walkaway.

Elbow operation restores lifelong injury at Iowa City hospital
Submitted to Operation Wayne Janssen, he underwent left elbow surgery last Monday at Perking Hospital in Iowa City. The elbow, broken since infancy and rebroken several times, was surgically repaired after nearly two hours of work to restore a hinge joint. Friends express joy and best wishes for full recovery.

Ed Howden, local pitcher, left for Fergus Falls Minnesota to join his wife Martha Johnson. They wed July seventeenth at the Lutheran parsonage in Fergus Falls and plan to reside in Spring Grove Minnesota after September first. The bride taught school in Rugby North Dakota and at Buxton, and Ed is a Tusker College graduate who taught last year and this year. The couple will be in Ed’s hometown area for the remainder of the ball season.

The Hamlin County Board of Education held a regular semiannual meeting in Eldora with members Wildman Gilbert Reed Snater Norland and Steinberg present. New members Morris and Reed replace Nichols Bridgens and Carter. Mor tig was absent. The board discussed school conditions, will continue rural visits, and favors Hardin county representation at a county boards meeting. A community event in Twester on August 28 features Grindy Center Walshure and Eldork with 1 pm start, 75 cent admission, a basket dinner, and music by the Training School band.

Pantatorium sold to Howard Modin in Eldora
Edw Schultz who ran the Eldora Pantatorium for several years sold the business to Howard Modin of the Eldora Laundry. Modin has engaged a capable mail carrier to run the pantatorium and keep cleaning and repairs up to standard. The court yard flag pole was repainted and a new cone added by a steeplejack from out of town.
