On Labor Day in Eldora and surrounding area in unseasonably hot humid weather local pranksters lifted a cart with dummy figures and crepe paper streamers onto the roof of Harold Shartley's garage in the north part of the city. Swen Ostrem, 71, died suddenly at his Radcliffe area home Friday noon. Funeral services were held Tuesday from Bergesan Funeral Home and Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Burial was in Radcliffe Cemetery. Survivors include five sons John Robert Franklin Arnold Virgil. daughter Eleanor Tweet. 16 grandchildren. Born April 4 1889 in Iowa. Wife Rose Larson preceded him in death. Final services were conducted Sept. 1 at Bergeson Funeral Home Radcliffe and Stavernger Lutheran Church Garden City for Anna Johnson who died Aug. 29 at Ellsworth Hospital Iowa Falls after surgery. Pallbearers listed and interment at Garden City cemetery. Johnson born April 2 1889 in Illinois, survived by two sisters and a brother.
