Ladies Lead Merchandise Sale With Statewide TV Coverage
Eldora women and their families reported tremendous one day merchandise sales with early indications the event surpassed others of its kind. Statewide TV coverage included WOT Ames WHO Des Moines WMT Cedar Rapids and KWWL Waterloo with footage airing Wednesday night and scheduled repeats on KWWL and WHO at 10 15 p m. City council led by Mayor Mrs L L Scott met in session while the fire department responded to calls and police detained multiple men on various charges. Police fines totaling 125 were turned to the Community Chest Fund and notes on several charges will appear in Tuesday's Herald Ledger.

A 1954 Community Chest drive will run Monday night with a $5,500 goal. Door to door solicitation and business-house canvassing are planned, with a "C Club" for donors of $20+. Funds will be distributed to Girl Scouts, Cancer, Salvation Army, Cerebral Palsy, and other local organizations. Final rites held for Mrs. James Tull in Eldora
Mrs. Gladys Gillham Tull, 51, of Eldora, died after a long illness. Final rites were conducted at Andrle and Creps Funeral Home with Rev. John K. Moore in charge. Burial followed in Eldora Cemetery. She was born in Leon on December 13 1902 and married James E Tull in 1920. She leaves husband son Navy service, mother Ella Gillham and brother Harry.

Funeral services for George Newhall aged 58 of Dumont will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Iowa Falls with burial in Eldora cemetery. He died Wednesday night at Iowa Falls hospital. Survived by wife two sons Kenneth and Lowell and two daughters Jan and Marlys.

Halloween Fun Night Slated At Steamboat Rock
A Halloween fun night for Steamboat Rock residents will be held Saturday night October 30. Postal Star Routes to Serve Eldora Again
Eldora will resume Star Route mail service starting November 1 under Postmaster J. R. Bahne. Gifford and Tama to Gifford routes will terminate at Eldora, with 8:30 a.m. arrivals and 4:30 p.m. departures daily except Sundays and holidays. Routes cover south Hardin county. Steamboat Rock may gain service soon. Mail must be in by 4:30 p.m. daily. Gifford patrons will use Union post office after November 1.

Joe Moore a Polk county district court parole officer will headline the annual Hardin County Farm Bureau meeting at Eldora High School gym Monday night beginning at 8 p.m. The program includes an address titled Four, officer elections and multiple resolutions. Nominations cover president vice president secretary treasurer and delegates with a slate of township directors to be ratified.
