Wilken Hadlexs longtime Hardin County National Foundation for Polio chapter chair and Jim Patgeeter county campaign director attended a 850 New March of Dimes Volunteers meeting in Minneapolis held Thursday and Friday. Basil O'Connor president of the organization gave the keynote address. Mrs Hadley and Mrs Potgeter attended as representatives of the county chapter. Sessions were at the Hotel Leamington.
Nineteen parents and teachers attended the primary department meeting where a film strip The Primary Child and the Church was shown. Deputation from McPherson College will visit November 19. Various social visits, club meetings, and a November 2 Sunshine Club gathering are noted along with a funeral, a service trip to Africa, and a 27-person hayride and wiener roast for the 4th group leaders and members.
The society pages record Carl Callaway and wife observing their 25th wedding anniversary with a large gathering including Lawrence Bavender King Ginger Iowa Falls Robert Bavender Alden and many others from Cedar Falls Whitten Eldora and nearby towns. Also listed are a wedding shower for Gail Bickel Des Moines and Ralph Cox Gifford with family present and a 13th birthday dinner for Allen Hallett hosted by George and Mrs Hallett with relatives in Eldora Petaluma and Marshalltown. The Owings of Petaluma visited before leaving for Ethiopia via Spt Owing and extended family in Grundy Center Liscomb and Liscomb.
Providence MRS ROSS ECE and Mr and Mrs Janes Brunner and Juliet of Des Moines visited Otis Rush family in their home Wednesday evening. Several relatives gathered for a Sunday dinner including the Schmitt family and friends from La Grange and Newton. Friends from Eldora Hubbard and surrounding areas visited Mrs Reece for a birthday and afternoon refreshments. Peggy Marsh celebrated with a birthday dinner hosted by Mrs Frederick Marsh attended by Charlene Marsh Dorothy Meeker Brenda Mesch and Peggy Reece's sister Julie.
Mrs Crosser of Chicago Illinois was honored at a fall themed shower in Owasa school dining room. Guests mingled as corsages were exchanged and a memory book gifted. A dress style show featured gowns from 1898 to 1960 and several original bouquets were presented.
Mrs Edna Norman and Darrell Veren spent the weekend in Rock Island Ill with their daughter and mother Mrs Kenneth Madlin and Mr Madlin. Mrs Christie West of Bloomfield visits her brother-in law and sister Mr and Mrs Jim Crosser and others. Mr and Mrs Harry Kaisand Lenny and Jim with Mr and Mrs Bob Griggs and sons Mr and Mrs Lloyd Davis Mr and Mrs Don Davis and Miss Mamie Frazier had a dinner at Quaker Heights Sunday.
Vridas October 21 1960 members of the American Home Extension met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs W Cernick cohosted by Dick Pettiers Ree We Mrs Emmett Hirt Aire William Masterson and Tietta Van Maanen The group discussed United Fund contributions and donation of 82 to the Tuion Affair Scholarship Also noted are plans for May Farm Bureau Youth Build project and related activities.
