A delinquent property tax sale is scheduled for 10 am Monday in the supervisor's room at the Eldora courthouse. About 250 parcels appear on the delinquent list in the Eldora Herald Ledger, with the sale awarding ownership to the first payer of taxes due.
Survivors of a two car crash near Eldora that claimed Roy Ryan's life are recovering. Sharon Ryan, age 4, has regained consciousness after a fractured skull and is expected to leave the hospital within a week. Victor Schwarck and his wife were released earlier. their three children also left the hospital with varying injuries. The accident occurred at a rural intersection a mile south and east of the county line road near Eldora.
A A Jaspers 62 of Steamboat Rock died at 8 p m Tuesday at Eldora Memorial Hospital after a stroke. Funeral arrangements await word from son Ivan in the U S Army in the Marshall Islands. Survived by wife two sons Harold and Ivan, daughter Marjorie a mission school teacher in Alexandria Egypt, sister Mrs Ernest Oelmann Ackley brother Okko Steamboat Rock. Interment in East Friesland church cemetery Wellsburg. Arrangements Andrie and Crép Funeral Home Eldora.
Don LaVelle a Shell Oil Co. jobber at Eldora received the silver award from the Oil Industry Information Committee of the American Petroleum Institute. Among about 2,000 oil workers in the Iowa Missouri region he was one of 35 honored for outstanding work promoting the oil industry. He could not attend the St Louis ceremony due to transportation issues before Thanksgiving.
The Union Whitten Community Club will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Union High School lunch room.
Four couples received marriage licenses on November 25. Don Brocr, 19, of Grundy Center, and Donna Schultz, 17, of Ackley. John Teager, 24, of Dakota City, and Patricia Friest, 22, of Garden City.
Workers began setting up Christmas decorations around the El Dora courthouse square this week. Mrs. Donald Gibbs of Eldora was hospitalized with cuts and bruises after a car-truck crash around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. She rode with Robert Max Haggason Jr. of Eldora when their car hit a westbound truck driven by Aage Jensen of Eldora on Edgington Ave near 23rd St. No other serious injuries. Auto damage estimated at 350 dollars and truck damage at 175.
Funeral services for Mrs Herman Roll 66 were held at St Paul Lutheran Eldora following a stroke at Eldora Memorial Hospital. Rev John Zimmermann officiated with interment in Eldora cemetery. Arrangements by Andrie and Creps Funeral Home. Born Ella Jeske December 23 1891 at Eldora married December 28 1922. She and her husband farmed near Hubbard before moving to Eldora. Surviving husband and three sisters Martha Goschke Ann Roll Bertha Neubauer, all of Eldora.
Donn Modlin son of Mr and Mrs Morris Modlin of Eldora completed basic training at Ft Carson Colorado and was transferred November 15 to Ft Leonard Wood He is assigned to the 423rd Band for an eight week on the job training in Army band work.
The Hardin County registrar lists new car registrations by residents including George Reed and Gertrude Reed of Iowa Falls with a Mercury and Evergreen Dairy vehicles, Frederick Kix of Hubbard with a Ford, Melba Kix, and Veg Ricks of Iowa Falls with a Ford.
Eldora community school voters approve an additional 55 000 bond issue for a gymnasium and auditorium by a 461 to 140 tally. The measure passes at 76 percent, higher than the 73 percent on the prior 235 000 bond. Turnout was 602 ballots, down from 1 054 in April. Plans call for a 106 155 square foot building on the east side of the current high school with 1 500 seats, music rooms, library, stage, and showers. Architect Joe Borg of Des Moines will prepare plans for bid letting likely in January or February.
Carl O. Prescott, 69, longtime Radcliffe resident, died Saturday after emergency surgery. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Berge-son Funeral Home and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Survived by five sisters and one brother. Prescott was born March 4, 1888, near Nevada, worked as a mechanic, and lived in Radcliffe and Cedar Rapids before returning to the Winterfield home.
Mrs Helen Schumacher Hardin county treasurer and staff review 1958 motor vehicle license plates set to go on sale December 2. Vertical county numbers replace prior horizontal design and colors will shift next year. Plate recipients include Mrs S J Osgood Iowa Falls and Lee Boddy Jows Falls. Payment by mail advised to avoid lines.

Hardin County Sheriff Paul Hodgson was the keynote speaker at the Story County peace officers banquet in McCallsburg on Tuesday night. He also addressed the Pleasant Township Farm Bureau meeting on Monday night at Roughwoods, delivering remarks on local law enforcement and community issues.

A horsepower rating will be shown before and after minor adjustments to demonstrate how simple repairs extend tractor life and power.

The B and B Pharmacy at Hubbard, owned by A. H. Boeke for 284 years, sold to Ames resident Kenneth York who will take over January 1 and rename it Hub bard Drug Co. York, a Drake College of Pharmacy graduate, now works for Fasco Drug Co. in Ames. Boeke will enter general insurance with Penn Mutual Life.
Three 17 year old youths from Eddyville and Waverly were captured south of Iowa Falls by Sheriff Paul E. Hodgson after abandoning a stolen car. The group Charles Weeks Henry E Brake and Charles Moser stole a car in Waverly drove it to Greene abandoned it then stole another car and drove to Iowa Falls. The Waverly sheriff secured the trio following Hodgson's Tuesday morning pursuit.
A German church service at Salem E.U.B. church in Hubbard will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, likely the last in the area. It will be recorded by a State University of Iowa technician and archived for study. Rev. Robert R. McCanon invites all interested to attend. guest minister Rev. Henry W. The Eldora Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of M. D. Stilley to the board of directors to replace the late E. J. Matheson. Stilley moved to Eldora about 16 years ago and opened Woodward's Department Store, now C. RK. Anthony Co.
