Survivors of a two car crash near Eldora that claimed Roy Ryan's life are recovering. Sharon Ryan, age 4, has regained consciousness after a fractured skull and is expected to leave the hospital within a week. Don LaVelle a Shell Oil Co. jobber at Eldora received the silver award from the Oil Industry Information Committee of the American Petroleum Institute. Among about 2,000 oil workers in the Iowa Missouri region he was one of 35 honored for outstanding work promoting the oil industry. He could not attend the St Louis ceremony due to transportation issues before Thanksgiving.

Mrs. Donald Gibbs of Eldora was hospitalized with cuts and bruises after a car-truck crash around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. She rode with Robert Max Haggason Jr. of Eldora when their car hit a westbound truck driven by Aage Jensen of Eldora on Edgington Ave near 23rd St. No other serious injuries. Auto damage estimated at 350 dollars and truck damage at 175.

Eldora district approves $55,000 bond for gym and auditorium
Eldora community school voters approve an additional 55 000 bond issue for a gymnasium and auditorium by a 461 to 140 tally. The measure passes at 76 percent, higher than the 73 percent on the prior 235 000 bond. Turnout was 602 ballots, down from 1 054 in April. Plans call for a 106 155 square foot building on the east side of the current high school with 1 500 seats, music rooms, library, stage, and showers. Architect Joe Borg of Des Moines will prepare plans for bid letting likely in January or February.

Carl Prescott rites held in Radcliffe Tuesday
Carl O. Prescott, 69, longtime Radcliffe resident, died Saturday after emergency surgery. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Berge-son Funeral Home and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Survived by five sisters and one brother. Prescott was born March 4, 1888, near Nevada, worked as a mechanic, and lived in Radcliffe and Cedar Rapids before returning to the Winterfield home.

Sheriff Apprehends Three Teens After Car Theft Flight
Three 17 year old youths from Eddyville and Waverly were captured south of Iowa Falls by Sheriff Paul E. Hodgson after abandoning a stolen car. The group Charles Weeks Henry E Brake and Charles Moser stole a car in Waverly drove it to Greene abandoned it then stole another car and drove to Iowa Falls. The Waverly sheriff secured the trio following Hodgson's Tuesday morning pursuit.
