Sween Successful Write In Candidate Named Auditor
Jerry L. Pence, 27, appointed Hardin County Auditor by the Board of Supervisors, replacing Robert J. Barr who resigned effective 12:01 a.m. Nov. 6. Pence will complete the term to Jan. 1, 1977, having served as Deputy Auditor since Sept 1973. He is a former Eldora resident, attended Ricks College and BYU, and is married with two daughters.

Free pancakes and sausage will be served Saturday November 9 at Targon's Restaurant Eldora from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event hosted by the Eldora Chamber of Commerce Farm City committee involves Eldora Jaycee Kiwanis Rotary members and local residents. Shirley New co owner of The Yarn Shop joins Martha Smith in managing the shop opened September 1 1972. Special open house planned November 15 and classes to follow. Hardin County residents turnout yields write in county attorney winner Jim Sween over incumbent Allan Oppen 2596 to 2256 with 13 of 20 precincts carried. Local and state races reflect Republican gains in Hardin County in a high turnout mid term election. Official canvass Monday.

J Karl Runyon Services Friday in Eldora
Funeral services for 72 year old J Karl Runyon will be held Friday at 2 p m from United Methodist Church in Eldora. Dr C Raymond Reed will officiate with vocal music by Mrs Merle Froning and organist Mrs J D Leonard. Interment at Spencer s Grove Cemetery near Walker Iowa. A prayer service is planned Saturday at Spencer s Grove Methodist Church with Rev W R Ehlert officiating. Longe necker Funeral Home of Eldora is handling arrangements. He served as Lt Colonel in the U S Army and was a school administrator in several locations before moving to Eldora. Surviving are his wife a son and three grandchildren and a sister.

A Veterans Day observance in Eldora is planned for Monday at 11 am in the new gym. The American Legion Post No 182 sponsors the ceremony with Eldora High School cooperation. Marc Lamoreux chairs the organizing committee and the program features a gun salute, eleven chimes, color guard, pledge, patriotic songs, and guest speaker LeRoy Crandall.

Eldora Council approves computer system and bus light rule
Eldora City Council authorized Management Data, Inc to set up a city computer system with a $494 setup and $118 monthly processing, to align with a state chart of accounts by July 1, 1975. An ordinance legalizes flashing red lights on city school buses and stop arms within Eldora. FAA advised airport hazard zoning near the new site, west of the Iowa Training School for Boys. Swaggart extension granted to remove condemned west Edgington Ave building. Bids sought for a new patrol car. Multiple building permits issued and a Town and Country Mobile Home Park operation approved. Next meeting set for Nov 18.
