Iowa safety officials warned the Memorial Day weekend could produce 6 to 15 traffic deaths if drivers do not take precautions. Pearl McMurry urged caution as tens of thousands travel, with S N Jespersen outlining safety rules such as car checks, early travel, obeying speed limits, no rushing past, and resting when drowsy.

The leading candidate Adolfo Ruiz Cortines promises support for equal voting rights for women as Mexico approaches the 1952 election. A petition with his photograph shows two young women advocating the cause, while Cortines notes women carry moral responsibility for youth. Also reports on Japan International University opening with Eldora donations, and a livestock shipment to the university farm in Japan.
