Central Iowa Telephone Completes Ten Lines Northwest of Eldora
Central Iowa Telephone has finished building ten metallicized lines serving the Eldora area with 105 subscribers on the ten lines. Seven lines were purchased from former mutuals to relieve load, adding lines Nos 2 5 to Owasa and Nos 3 4 6 7 17 18 23 27 as rural lines. Line 13 serving Rough Woods is nearing completion with metallicized rebuild and new phones. Eldora Methodist church reports completion of fluorescent lighting in the parish hall.

Paul E. Maddy, current vocational ag instructor at Dunkerton high school, was chosen to teach a GI on the farm class starting July 1. He succeeds Charles Smith who will join Eldora high school ag teaching. The fifth annual Mid-West Pony Sale sponsored by J F B Reisinger and Sons runs Friday and Saturday at the Eldora Livestock Sales Pavilion. Over 400 head, including top quality registered Shetland stock, are to be sold starting at 9 am. 3,000 spectators can shelter under a 70 by 118 foot tent. By Wednesday night 300 ponies from 12 states had arrived, with many visitors previewing stock. The event opens with the national stallion show at the fairgrounds.

Plaque to honor Lt Col Woodhouse memory
Invitations go out for a dedication ceremony honoring Lieut. Col. Horatio Cornick Woodhouse Jr. USMC class of 1936 at Virginia Military Institute. Mrs Blaine Hubbard Dies Here Tuesday at 64
Mrs. Blaine Hubbard 64 died Tuesday at Eldora hospital. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Andrie-Creps funeral home by Rev. Dewey Lamprecht. Burial followed in Eldora cemetery. She was born Mabel Gertrude Pickens June 24, 1886 in Green Castle Missouri and lived on a farm near Eldora with her husband Blaine Stabbard. She previously married Walter McFarland who died in 1946. Survivors include her mother, brothers Charley Pickens and Grace Marley in Bethany, with other relatives listed.
