Tuesday guests in the John Baiotto home were Mr and Mrs Forrest Loutenizer from Iowa Falls. Mr and Mrs John Baiotto were Friday and Saturday guests.
In Eldora local notes the Crosley Farm Store advertised fresh bulk garden seed "Guaranteed to Grow" while listings mention Ernest Baiatto home Earl ham and residents Mrs Don Perkins and Mrs Fannie Rogers as Sunday attendees.
Weekend guests visited several homes including Marcia Richifer Marshalltovt at the Ar ctie Runner residence and Janine Brindle in the Runner home. Open house at Oakview Nursing Home Conrad drew Lyle Minteer Becky and Bill. Mother's Day guests at Everett Winters Steamboat Rock included Sherilyn and Ryan with Ralph Winters. Dinner guests in Conrad included Harry Minteer and Becky Minteer. Lyle Minteer with Bill and Mrs. Shea also attended.
A birthday party honored Mrs. Edna Oatts at her Radcliffe home Saturday afternoon. Attendees included Mrs. Otis Cole of Nevada, Mrs. K D Luhman of Hubbard, and several others. Additional visits and dinners noted with local families. medical updates and travel of residents also mentioned. Twenty Sherman Township Farm Bureau ladies enjoyed a May breakfast Monday at the Chatterbox Cafe. They later visited the nursing home at Eldora and the Care Center at Town Falls. May baskets were given to patients. Several social visits and church activities are noted including a funeral in Story City and a baptism at Forest City. Bruce Espe returned home from Vietnam. Entertains senior girls at breakfast honoring the 1970 class with 22 attendees.
Hardin County farmers must certify acres for barley rye wheat oats corn and grain sorghum by June 10 July 1 and August 19 respectively with soybeans also accounted for. Early certification speeds payments and requires exact acreage declarations and diverted acreage data.
Two Balvanz brothers Frank of Waterloo and One Sts Balvanz of Eldora are linked with Martha Saint, also of Waterloo, in a near contemporary record noting their involvement or association. The brief item mentions Waterloo connections and names multiple Balvanz individuals.
Funeral services were held at St Paul Lutheran Eldora for Anna Steinfeldt 83 who died at home. Rev John Zimmermann officiated with choir organist and flower ladies named. Interment in Eldora Cemetery. Surviving children include Carl Clara Schultz Lucille Freerksen and Lydia Freerksen. First National Bank among city bond bidders for street project bonds.
Ridora city officials caution parents against allowing youngsters to ride bicycles after dark unless equipped with proper lights and reflectors.
Mrs. David Gregory of New Providence owner of Town and Country Antiques will close the shop for health reasons. A closing out sale on all merchandise starts Friday May 15 and runs until all stock is sold. Mrs. Raymond Nance of Eldora started the shop in July 1968 with Gregory joining in October that year. Gregory has run the shop alone since May 1969.
Mrs Hester Elerding and Mrs Sharon Brown attended the Iowa Public Health Association meeting in Waterloo on May 7. Dr Arnold Reeve and Norman Pawlowski of the Iowa State Department of Health spoke on rubella immunization noting few reactions and stressing ongoing vaccines for children age 12 months and older.
