Frerichs and Walters unite in marriage with a white satin gown and pink carnations in a May ceremony. Guests from Waterloo Hubbard Steamboat Rock Eldora and Des Moines attended as Rev Wayne Rash led services and a reception followed with 150 guests at the Hubbard farm home.

Tipton Two Ladies Plan September Tea

The Tinton Township Ladies met at 2:30 PM Tuesday at Mrs. Ernest Blome’s home with 22 members. Mrs. Howard Sisam led, reports on schools and a bond meeting were given, and the group voted to buy and send the Book of the United States to a foreign country. Nehring and Ernest gave a lesson on housework. Refreshments were by Mrs. Engeking and Mrs. Bunte. The Organization Tea is set for September 1 at Mrs. Raymond Andrews’s home.

Auxiliary Juniors And Girl Scouts Aid On Poppy Day

Junior members of the Eldora American Legion Auxiliary and the Girl Scouts are helping on Poppy Day set for Saturday May 23. Mrs Joe Kra chairman reports poppy sales to aid disabled veterans and needy children of veterans. Mr and Mrs E M Jones of D were Sunday guests in Eldora before returning home.

McVeety’s Winter Arrangement picked for Des Moines display

Mrs. McVeety’s photograph Winter Arrangement, entered in the Sioux City Art Center contest, is selected to be shown May 11 to 16 at Younkers Des Moines and May 19 to 31 at the Des Moines Art Center. The exhibit features artists from four states with judge Raymond Parker, former art instructor at Iowa State University and Minnesota University, now in New York City.

A family dinner at the Wm Ziesman home in Eldora celebrated Mr Ziesmans 90th birthday. The Business and Professional Women's Club held a 6:15 pm dinner and meeting at Blanche and Ethel's Tea Room. Installation of 1953 54 officers was led by Mrs Jeannette Wickey with Ed Anderson as president and L L Scott as vice president. Engagement of Mary Joy Cronk and John Harms announced

Mrs Georgia Cronk announces the engagement of her daughter Mary Joy to John Harms son of Mr and Mrs H C Harms of Steamboat Rock. No wedding date is set as Mr Harms left Tuesday for armed service. Miss Cronk is a nurses aide at Eldora Memorial hospital.

Ed Myers Golden Wedding Fete Held in Iowa Falls Area

Mr and Mrs Ed Myers of Des Moines celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on May 10 at the home of their daughter Mrs Carroll Heard near Iowa Falls. They married May 10 1903 and have lived in Owasa 1934 45 and later Des Moines. They have 13 grandchildren and two sons in law and many relatives attended. Open house ran 2 4 pm and 7 9 pm with about 100 guests.

The Mothers Club held a one o'clock luncheon on Tuesday at Blanche and Ethel's Tee Room with spring flower centerpieces. Mrs. Joe Kramer Jr and Mrs. L L Scott led arrangements and after luncheon guests visited Mrs. Kramer’s home. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Beecher Crosley Mrs. Cecil Rooks and Mrs. Tom Monteith. The meeting ends the club season until September.

The Lutheran Couples Club met in the church dining room for a 6:30 potluck dinner with 23 couples present. Tables featured a May basket maypole and spring bouquet. After a basic meeting, plans for Eldora Centennial were outlined. Guest speaker Mrs. C. B. Greer spoke on Eldora history, Rev. J. Zimmermann on the church history.

The Twentieth Century Club met in the library club rooms with twelve members present. Roll call was Current Events Africa. Mrs. Howard Harris spoke on Africa's topography and terrain while Mrs. L V Putnam explained its people and industry. A bake sale fundraiser is set for May 16 hosted by the Eldora Womans Club with a moon picnic planned for May 25 at Mrs H Huntleys home.
