Flushing Hydrants To Begin Saturday In Eldora

Eldora city crews will begin Saturday, March 23, to flush hydrants citywide to alleviate rusty water caused by a water filter breakdown. Crews start in Ward HH, then Ward HV, continuing until every hydrant is cleaned and water clarity improves after repairs.

Eldora Community School vocal department presents Fiddler On Roof in the high school auditorium Friday and Saturday March 29 and 30. Curtain time is 8 p.m. both evenings under the direction of William Hyde.

County Assumes Logsdon Park Restoration Plan

Hardin County Conservation Board has assumed operation of Logsdon Wayside Park nine miles south of Iowa Falls on Highway 65. Restoration work will begin this summer after the Iowa Highway Commission turned the site over as it phases out state roadside rest areas. The park, founded in 1934 by Len Logsdon, sits nine miles from Eldora and Hubbard. facilities are largely in disrepair including shelter house, rest rooms, fireplaces, grills, playground equipment, and a suspended bridge over the river.

Eldora City Council reports 5000 raised toward a 15000 goal for the Swimming Pool Park project. Officials plan continued outreach this week to finish funding by May while federal money may cover half the 62000 cost. donations are tax deductible and a 90 day pledge option through June 1 is offered.

State Speech Contest Saturday at Mason City

A total of 47 entries from six area schools will compete in the state small group and individual speech contest on Saturday March 23 in Mason City. Minor Subaru damage in Hubbard backed into by truck

A 1971 Subaru owned by Joseph or Sandra Fiems of Hubbard sustained minor damage after being backed into by a truck driven by Danny William Dickenson of Eldora on Monday afternoon at the Iowa Training School prounds. The truck was owned by the Department of Social Services.

Hauser Slated For ISU Award

James V. Hauser of Eldora is named one of two Iowa agriculturists to receive an ISU honored man award at the 19th annual banquet in Ames. More Snow Falls as Cold Week Persists in Eldera

Eldera reports another two inches of snow this week as light rain turns to snow. Temperatures ranged from a Monday high of 4 degrees to a Wednesday high of 28, with Monday and Wednesday lows near 2 to 8 degrees. Observers note frigid conditions continuing into Thursday morning.
