Boyd S. Smith 74 died Tuesday at Valley View Nursing Center Eldora. Services were held Thursday March 7 at Ardine and Creps Funeral Home Eldora with Rev. Leo Potter officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memory Gardens. Surviving are daughter Audrey Bogardus Des Moines two grandsons four great grandchildren three brothers and one sister. He was born April 22 1899 Gladbrook and retired after 49 years with Chicago North Western Railroad.

The 62nd birthday of Girl Scouts is observed March 10 16 with activities planned by Eldora Neighborhood. A Girl Scout display will be in Eldora Bakery window and Sunday March 10 they wear uniforms for Girl Scout Sunday in local churches. The Birthday party is March 12 3 30 to 5 p.m. at the elementary school all purpose room with Court of Awards for Junior Scouts and group demonstrations. A skating party is planned for March 24 at Diamond Rolarena in Iowa Falls for Scouts and families.

Eldora utilities committee reviewed a proposed water rate increase to return the fund to self sufficiency amid rising labor and material costs.
