Public notice in the district court announces probate of Julian O Folte deceased. Arlene L Koltz is named executor and creditors or those indebted are urged to file or pay within six months after the second publication. Legal action to contest the will must be brought within one year.
Jerry Hitch, son of Mr and Mrs George Hitch of Union, received a $600 Rice Estate Advanced Curriculum Scholarship at State University. The two year award, given for high scholastic standing, funds study for an agricultural engineering sophomore who must take extra math and science courses and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Eldora Pine Lakers post a 52-65 overall softball mark and 1.2 in league play. They swept Steamboat Rock 38 to 14 behind Jim McGriff and Kenny Terfehn. In league action they lost 2-1 to Marshalltown and beat Buckeye 7-1 behind Terfehn. They head into a busy week with two games and a Tuesday tournament setting. Eldora also hosts a girls basketball camp week with nearly 100 high school players from Weyant and Parsons College.
Hardin County Cattle Feeders Association schedules an Alaska style tour Tuesday, June 27, covering western Iowa and the Sioux City area. Two buses planned with one staying for dog races, visiting Shin Rome Farms at Odebolt and Gene Wright farm at Anthon.
City Council called to order by Mayor Gould with members Nance Sillea Gatton Ritter De Vings Shephard. Meeting approved a plan for street tree work and gutter repairs with public hearing set for January 1972 at City Hall. Meeting adjourned after proceedings.
The Pine Lake Saddle Club hosts an invitational all day trophy show on Sunday July 9 at the club grounds two miles east of Owasa on the blacktop. 16 halter classes begin at 10 a.m. with performance classes at 1 p.m. Proceeds fund an electric timer. A lunch stand will be on site. Co chairs are Butch Pieters Jan Pieters and Joan Wilson.
