Booster Club seeks Queen Candidates for UW area
A Miss Union-Whit ten will represent Hardin county at the Hardin County Fair Queen contest in July. The Union Booster Club sponsors the Union Whit ten queen contest and seeks local businesses to sponsor candidates. Eligible girls are ages 16 to 21 and unmarried. Fire Destroys 3 Buildings on Jass Farm Northeast of Alden
High winds fueled a Sunday blaze at Herman and William Jass farm northeast of Alden destroying three buildings. Firemen reported about 11 p.m. and stayed until early morning. The structures held 9,100 bushels of corn plus tools and fencing. damage estimate unavailable. Fire units from Alden and volunteers from Iowa Falls and Buckeye aided.

United Eggs Plans Second 50,000-Bird Chicken House
United Eggs Inc of Eldora announces a second 50 thousand bird laying house to be built south of the current facility near Eldora. The 44 by 628 foot metal clad building with 15 foot walls costs about 150 thousand dollars and will enlarge capacity to 100 thousand laying hens. Construction begins within weeks and should finish by October 1. The birds will be cage suspended with automatic feeding and egg gathering. a cooler is not planned for the new building. About 1,64 cases of eggs are expected to be trucked weekly to western markets, with annual sales over 600 thousand dollars.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church Steamboat Rock for 78 year old Mrs Rena Frerichs who died Monday in Eldora Community Hospital. Rev Jacob Ehman officiated with choir and flower attendants. Burial followed in Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Born September 14 1894 in Grundy County she married William Frerichs in 1915. Survived by daughter Esther Steinfeldt two sons Carl and Arthur and extended family. The Eldora Creps Funeral Home arranged the services. A school board meeting in Eldora was postponed to June 20 at 7 30 p m.
