Two Arrests After Stolen Volkswagen Report
Deputy Warren Crosser on routing patrol in Steam Boat Rock ran a wanted check on a California license plate found on a Volkswagen Wayi. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Los Angeles in February. Eldora officer Dick Faris, with Sheriff Robert Callaway, stopped the van and arrested two Waterloo men. In a separate crash, Dirk Webber 20 of Town Falls drove west and struck an utility pole after seeing headlights in his lane. William Smith of Town Falls delivered papers and was involved, with passenger Leroy Seda. Two Waterloo men were taken to Ellsworth Hospital in Town Falls with minor injuries.

Local Car Crash and Break-in Reports in Hardin County
Monday evening two Iowa Training School boys fled a car near Mr. B's drive in Eldora and were later caught in Grundy Center at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and returned to the school. Joseph Kinney of Des Moines suffered cuts when his car went off a curve near Sherman at 5:15 a.m. Sunday. Kinney's 1970 Dodge, about 500 in damage, struck a fence and field. Break-ins were reported at Sellens Market in Hubbard and Flossie's Cafe in Hubbard, with glass broken and cigarettes stolen. John Kix of Hubbard reported 27 stereo tapes stolen from his car Friday night near Hubbard High School. A Farm Bureau Service Co. suit seeks 119.80 from Rosemary Cervetti of Hubbard in Hardin County District Court.
