Cattle Feeders School Set for January 9 in Eldora
A multi county extension program for cattle feeders will be held Thursday January 9 from 9 30 am to 3 30 pm at Pine Lake Country Club Eldora. Topics include feedlot nutrition marketing outlook growth stimulants and cattle feeding systems with Q and A after each talk. Advanced noon luncheon registration costs 4 and call the Hardin County Extension Office to attend.

Senior Citizen Theme For 75 County Fair Hardin County
Hardin County Fair board officials announced the 1975 Hardin County Fair will honor senior citizens with the theme Our Senior Citizens. The July 28 31 event offers free outside gate for ages 65 and over on opening day and a free grandstand for seniors that night. Sears Rodeo Company is booked for Tuesday night and motorcycle races are under negotiation. A demolition derby is planned for Thursday night with Eldora Daycees cooperation. The Eldora Chamber of Commerce committee hosts opening day parade. four free puppet shows daily by Dean Short Enterprises. Big J Amusements midway with regional fair cooperation. Officials say it could be the biggest fair in years. Harley Davison 45 of Iowa Falls and Velda Carbaugh 42 of Omaha listed.

Eldora Rites For Harry Kerkhuff
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Eldora for 79 year old Harry Kerkhuff who died Monday in an Iowa City hospital. The Rev. Max Deffenbaugh and Rev. Dewey Lamprecht led the service with pallbearers Wayne Bartholomew Beecher Crossey John Harms Wayne Perkins Robert Smith and Marion Stewart. Burial was in Eldora Cemetery. Arrangements were by Longenecker Funeral Home. He was born May 2 1895 in Eilis Township Hardin county and was a lifelong Eldora resident workman in carpentry and for years on the Eldora police force and as a railroad employee. He attended First Baptist Church and belonged to Modern Woodmen of America. He married Hazel Whitney Simpson on February 19 1964 in Eldora. Surviving are his wife one stepson Philip Simpson of Berwick Iowa two nephews and three sisters Nellie Dedrick Eldora Clara Hellhake Woodburn Oregon and Lulu Modtin Des Moines.

Eldora Chamber of Commerce board led by president Terry Juergens kicked off a 1975 membership drive at Larson's Restaurant. The 10 directors aim for full participation by Jan 18 with dues and donations funding operations. The group promotes Pine Lake Park tourism, master corn and soybean contests, and community development as it works to attract new industry.
