A 17 year old babysitter carried two small children to safety as a fire gutted the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Paulsen in Atlantic Indiana. The children were asleep when the blaze started and were saved by quick action. Mrs Janssen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Janssen of Eldora, is involved in the family.

Final Rites Held for Maurice Klatt in Radcliffe
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at St John Evangelical U B Church for Maurice E Klatt 68 of Radcliffe who died Thursday at his daughter’s home in the Evergreen community. Born November 12 1895 he married Ellen Clark in 1917 and later practiced chiropractic before turning to carpentry. He is survived by three daughters Coral Kenneth Severson Hubbard Darlene Arthur Martin Baker Mont Maurice Jr Radcliffe and his mother Kathryn Klatt a sister Lois and a brother Clarence. Burial followed in Radcliffe cemetery with pallbearers A B Narland Earl Himmel B G Prescott Joe Himmel Leonard Johnson and H D Stewart.

Mrs. Linnie Vallem aged 70 died Monday evening at Eldora Memorial hospital where she had been a patient since November 24. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Bergeson Funeral Home. She had long resided with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mork south of Radcliffe.

Funeral services for 81 year old Anna Granzow were held Dec 23 at Bergeson Funeral Home after she died Dec 21 in her sleep following a brief illness at the home of her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Ben Hake. She would have marked her 82nd birthday on Sunday. The body was later taken to Buffalo Center for Congregational church services and burial at Olena Mound. Mary Anna Kahl Grantow, daughter of D Kahl, was born Dec 27 1871 in Davenport Iowa and died in her sleep Monday morning.

Raymond Dubberke died December 21 at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines after a lingering illness. Interment services were held December 23 at Radcliffe cemetery. He and his wife Bertha Hetland recently lived in Radcliffe and he worked at the Ellsworth turkey processing plant when able. Survived by his wife, a son and daughter, his mother, and other relatives in Hubbard.

Obituary for Arthur Church of New Providence
Arthur Church 65 son of Edward and Mary Mote Church was born December 10 1888 in Chadron Nebraska. He moved to Marshalltown at age eight and married Carrie Reéte May 1 1909, later living in Eldora and then New Providence for about 40 years. He was a carpenter and later a custodian and school bus driver at the New Providence school until ill health forced him to retire. Five children survived with all having graduated from the local high school. Surviving besides his wife are Agnes Elerding George Church Leonard Church Robert Church and Pauline Church seven grandchildren and one sister Gaye Mowery. Funeral Monday at the New Providence church with Rev. Dewey Lamprecht and Dr. W A Spring assisting. Neil Martin was soloist and Mrs. Fred Mitchell was organist. Casket bearers listed and burial in Honey Creek.
