The union of a Des Moines woman and Jolsey man was solemnized at the Church of Christ in Union. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett K. Caster, wore a beige suit with red rose corsage. the groom is Louis Dreessen’s son. Attendants included matron of honor Mrs Ludwig Dostal and best man Wayne J. Caster. nuptial music by Lynn Beecher. A reception for 60 followed in church parlors. The couple will reside at 1425 Williams St Des Moines.

The Balcony Boosters held a potluck dinner in the Parish hall at 6:30 Monday evening with eighteen members present. Miss Leota Hardy and Mrs. Glen Whorrall led the committee in charge, Christmas greenery adorned the tables, and a gift exchange occurred. The group presented Wyatt Johnson, the class teacher, with a TV lamp. Social hour followed.

A sun porch lighted tree and candles lit the rooms while Mrs. Les Flickinger helped pour. From four to six Bateson hosted High School teachers with Miss Ann Bender pouring. Mavis McVeety and David Balvant, Vin ton students, are spending vacation at home in Eldora.

Mrs. Davis Hosts D A R Meeting With Christmas Program
Mrs. Davis hosted the Open Fire Chapter of the D A R for a December afternoon meeting. Ten members voted to donate 20 to the Tractor Fund for Kate Duncan Smith school plus 5 for Tamassee and Kate Duncan Smith schools. Miss Mavis McVeety sang two numbers with her mother Mrs. Eldon McVeety, group carols were shared, and Mrs. W H Longenecker read a paper on Christmas in Other Lands. The next meeting on Jan. 18 will be with Miss Leota Hardy.

Brownie Troop 1 and leader Mrs Val Hilsabeck hosted a family Christmas party in the Girl Scout room Sunday from 2 30 to 4. Opening flag ceremony led by Charlotte Davison with Mary Rodgers and Karen Steinfeldt as flag bearers and Lorene Pratt Ann Longenecker as color guard. Six others completed the guard. the Brownie Song and Brownie Story followed, investures for Lorene Pratt and Ann Longenecker performed. The group renewed their promise, received pins with a one year pendant as gifts, and shared games, a gift exchange, cookies, candy, Brownies baked by the troop, and punch. Mary Lee Roupe received her pin earlier Saturday.
