Eldora’s annual Chamber of Commerce banquet Friday February 22 at Pine Lake Country Club features awards presented by Jack Pester chair of the Pester Derby Ofl Company and Second National Bank of Eldora. Master of ceremonies Dave Christensen will introduce board members and announce special award winners with a 1973 Chamber report and Eldora Community Betterment Council update, followed by a dance with The Middlemen of Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held in Hernando Florida for Mrs Frank Frerichs who died from injuries after a fall at her home. Born April 27 1908 in Eldora she was a 1923 Eldora High School graduate and later studied in Marshalltown. Survived by husband two children four grandchildren one great grandson a sister and several relatives from Iowa and elsewhere.

Eldora to Attend Tallcorn Vocal Conference in Cedar Falls
Eldora High School joins 66 Iowa schools at the 19th Tallcorn Vocal and Piano Conference at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. The all day event February 23 features Gold choir rehearsals for upperclassmen, Blue choir for underclassmen, and performances by UNI choral groups drawing over 450 vocalists, pianists, and directors.

Ministers To Meet At Eldora Hospital
The Pine Lake Ministerial Association will meet Monday February 25 at 9 a.m. at Eldora Community Hospital. After the regular business meeting Ed Reinhart of Zion United Church of Christ Hubbard and Kenneth Ebb chaplain at the Iowa Training School for Boys will continue a study on Transactional Analysis. Outstanding NCO Jerome Hoffman Named Quarter Hero
Air Force Staff Sergeant Jerome P. Hoffman of New Providence has been chosen as Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer of the quarter at Grand Forks AFB North Dakota. Two Hidera Boys Hurt In Pine Lake Park Crash
Hardin County Sheriff reports a one car accident near Pine Lake State Park entrance injured two youths. Driver Mark McDowell 16 and passenger Doug Minteer received minor injuries and were treated at Eldora Community Hospital. The 1963 Ford sustained about $600 damage.

Winners of the annual Ildora Master Corn and Soybean Growers contests were honored at a Wednesday awards banquet at Blanche and Ethel's Tea Room. First place in soybeans went to Dave Jordening of Eldora with 83.05 bushels per acre. corn winners included Alvin Clark, Carl J. King, Richard Kletthe, and Joseph Rasho, all over 150 bushels per acre.

Willison Chaney Rites Held for Former Resident
Services for former resident Willison O Chaney 61 of Boone were held at the United Church of Christ in Jelhora with Rev. Paul Lyster presiding. He died Sunday at Good Samaritan Center in Indianola. Burial followed at Mast Lawn Memory Gardens in Widora. Longenecker Funeral Home of Fildera coordinated arrangements. He was born in Midora on October 7, 190? to Willison O Chaney and BP Newby Chaney. He married Wilma Rothenbeutel at Jelhora on March 2, 19??. He farmed in the Kidara area, later ran a store in Glidden, and resided in Boone. Surviving are his children Donna Borchers of Newton Eloise Petersen of Jefferson Judy Cleveland of Tadianula, eight grandchildren, and siblings.

New Providence FFA Members Win Two Gold Awards
Southeast Hardin New Providence FFA members win two gold awards at sub district PRA contest. Robert Pingel earned gold in extemporaneous speaking and Dan Whitehead gold in PRA creed speaking. Pingel and Whitehead advance to district on March 9, with other sub district competitors earning silvers and bronzes in creed and parliamentary procedure. The chapter held an open house February 19 for faculty and eighth through 12th grade students in honor of National FFA Week.
