Voters in the Owasa consolidated district will decide on issuing 48,000 in bonds for a one story 110 by 70 foot building with basement. The gymnasium will seat 700 to 800 with a 90 foot playing floor, attached to the existing plant, and will house home economics manual training and agriculture in the basement.

In a surprise move on Thursday, Jack Berry of Iowa Falls pleaded guilty to second degree murder and received a sentence not to exceed 30 years in Fort Madison penitentiary. Judge Sherwood A. Clock ordered the term after Berry agreed to the charge change to avoid a third trial. Berry faced retrial on a first degree murder count tied to the 1947 shooting of Ernie Knott. He had previously been found insane, confined at Anamosa, then declared sound and brought back for trial. Parole eligible in about 12 years.

Eldora Plans Citywide House Plates With Intersections
The plan calls for mounting signs on a two inch pipe set in a concrete foundation or in a cement base about 14 inches above ground. Eldora has about 1000 homes. The city will proceed with street and house numbering on the new plat to determine sign needs, placing two sets at each intersection. The planning board will arrange sale and distribution of the house plates.

Interested veterans will meet V A officials Tuesday at 7 30 p m in the Eldora school cafeteria to learn about a farm training course under the G I Bill.
