Paul Sievert and Bertha Dreier marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a February 4 open house at Salem United Methodist Church Hubbard. More than 200 guests from Wisconsin Cedar Falls Colfax Union Iowa Falls Eldora and surrounding towns attended. The couple wed February 4 1923 in Hubbard.

In Hardin County District Court Judge Paul E Hellwege dissolved two marriages. Dorothy Jeanne Slattenow of Iowa Falls and Larry Kay Slattenow of Alden will pay $50 alimony monthly for 12 months. They wed November 10, 1952 in Quincy Missouri. Joanne Marie Awe of Iowa Falls and Richard Vern Awe of Ackley were also divorced. Awe restores her former name Joanne Marie Kitzman. They married October 195? at Princeton Missouri.

The Veterans Farm Cooperative Program by Iowa Valley Community College District starts February 19, 1978 in Conrad. Classes run 7 to 11 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, totaling 44 weeks and 440 hours annually. Instructor Henry Siemers leads lectures with guest speakers and field trips. Iowa veteran agriculture training expands in new class
The program supports veterans in production agriculture and GI benefits. Tuition runs 130 dollars per term with a 10 dollar initial fee. Four terms per year for three years, with books and supplies extra. Conrad hosts the fifth Iowa Valley class, joining Marshalltown Grinnell Tama and Hubbard. About 120 veterans are enrolled across four classes, with improvements easing attendance and boosting profits. The first class session is set for February 19 for a full program overview.
