Jackson Boys Win Herdsmen Contest at Hardin County Fair
Jackson Boys 4-H club won first place in the herdsmen contest at the Hardin county fair. The winners earned 18 points while the Concord club had 13 for second and the Union group 12 for third. Ten dollars in cash was awarded to the top three clubs by the Eldora Sales Barn. Ken Reisinger’s suggestion that a contest would improve the fat stock show proved true. The 4-H livestock were grouped by clubs this year instead of by breeds. All the boys stored hay straw and grain feed in swine pens to keep cattle alleys clear.
