Four Center campers Mrs Belle Dodson Mrs Mary Mead Mrs Esther McDonald and Mrs August Norris spent a week camping. Combined ages total 34 years withMcDonald at 83 and Dodson the youngest at 67. Hawarden area reports a superb oat crop on the Van Ballegooyen farm yielding 1104 bushels per acre on 35 acres. Oats stood four feet tall before harvest with long full heads. typical yields are 30 to 40 bushels per acre.
Otis Lutt schwager of the Production and Marketing Administration promotes resealing the 1948 corn crop on farms to stabilize grain prices and ease feeding programs. A storage loan program through the Commodity Credit Corporation offers up to 85 percent of storage costs and 10 cents per bushel storage fee, backing a four thousand bushel capacity building with a removable tunnel system for drying and storing corn.
Farmers were advised by Francis Kutish of Iowa State College extension to focus on calves and light yearlings for fall 1950. these feeders offer low cash per head, maximize corn usage, and spread labor over a longer period. Common and medium cattle are noted as viable options.

Scott earned two awards, placing third in five-galted pleasure with Kathryn King and sixth in English pleasure aboard Branchwood Rocket. Prince ridden by Gordon Reisinger was an appendinlare winner in the pony division.
