Hagen Returns From Nicaragua With Native Dress Souvenirs

Allen Hagen son of Mr and Mrs Marvin Hagen of Eldora displays souvenirs from a six week summer trip to Nicaragua He worked with 45 youths from 18 colleges in a World Gospel Crusades program to carry the gospel to homes and aid earthquake damaged churches He plans to present his Nicaragua work before returning to Seward Nebraska next week.

Fred Struck Rites In Eldora Tuesday

Funeral services were held in Eldora for Fred M. Struck 92 who died at his home near Steamboat Rock. Rev. John Zimmerman officiated with Don LaVelle and organists providing music. Interment was in Eldova Cemetery. Struck born October 17, 1880, in Pleasant Township, spent life farming in Hardin County before moving to Eldora in 1943. Surviving are three sons, one daughter, 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Major Machinery Ruined By Vandals

Hoodier Construction Co. of Allison suffered $20,000 to $25,000 damage when a Caterpillar front end loader was burned out after being driven into a new 60 cement culvert on a county road two miles north of the Highway 175 New Providence junction west of Hidera. Tools were reported stolen at the site.

Steamboat Rock city council discussed building tennis courts on school grounds with two rejected bids as too high. Funding will come from revenue sharing, the school, and the local Women’s Progress Club. court measurements are planned at 0 by 200. Street repairs, a railroad crossing traffic study, and a signal at the cemetery crossing were also planned with revenue sharing funds.
