4-H Bearcats Plan April Meeting and Camp Selections

The 4-H Bearcats held their April meeting at Curtis Goodell’s home. Jerry Crosser was chosen to attend the conservation camp and Curtis Goodell to attend the Ames short course. A talk on separator care and cleaning was given. Mrs. Goodell served lunch. PFC Gerald Armstrong, back from a 14 day furlough in Germany, returns to Washington DC. he spent time with his parents Mr and Mrs G T Armstrong. Guests Friday and Saturday were Mr and Mrs Jack Collins and family of Mt Pleasant.

Elda Brunemeier Weds Eugene Halfpop in Hubbard Church

Elda Jane Brunemeier daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Kix wed Eugene Halfpop son of Mr and Mrs Hugo Halfpop in a candlelight ceremony at Zion Evangelical and Reformed church Reverend Arthur Kruetzmann officiated the double ring vows A fifteen minute organ prelude by Mrs Arthur Kruetzmann and songs by Frederick Bux accompanied the service The couple were attended by Mrs Ervin Ziebell and Wesley Barnhart The reception for 170 followed in the church parlor The bride wears a light blue suit and navy accessories and the groom plans to reside on a farm south of Hubbard The wedding marked by orchid and white decor and a full church event with family and Hubbard community members in attendance

Woman's Club Meeting With Guest Speaker May 1

Eldora Woman's club invites members to a May 1 gathering at the Congregational church with guest speaker Zatha Pilson Weems. Special music by Mrs. D. W. Dickinson and Mrs. Hall of Huxsey accompanies the talk on "What a Woman of 1850 Would Remember" followed by a tea hosted by the social committee.

Twentieth Century Elects Mrs Ibach

Mrs Nettie Strother hosted the Twentieth Century club meeting with 14 members and two guests. Katherine Ibach was elected president, C A Hauser vice president, and Mass Leota Hardy secretary. Speakers included Mrs Pickering on Church Bells and Mrs Ibach on Famous Churches Abroad and at Home. Refreshments followed hosted by Mrs Strother with assistance from Mrs Pickering and Nancy Heslop.

Mrs Roupe Elected Child Study Head

Mrs John Roupe was elected president of the Child Study club at a Tuesday meeting held at Mrs Joe Hubbard's home. Mrs Hubbard named vice president and Mrs Jurgen Trad on secretary treasurer with Mrs Robert Seggerman handling the lesson. Hostess assisted by Mrs Marvin Cathn.

Mr and Mrs Lew Tucker Host Mrs Martin at 90th Birthday

Mr and Mrs Lew Tucker of Marshalltown celebrated Mrs W J Martin’s 90th birthday as guests of Martin, the former’s sister, on Sunday. Mrs Martin received many gifts cards and flowers and was visited by numerous callers throughout the day.

St Mary's Study Club Meets at Mrs Dbach Home

Arensmeier Engleking Wed In St John’s Church Service

Helga Arensmeier of Hubbard wed Merlyn Engelking son of Carl and Mrs. Engelking in a candlelit double ring ceremony at St John’s Lutheran April 19. Rev Martin Pape officiated. Family sang and played music as the couple exchanged vows and received guests in the church parlors before a short wedding trip. The couple will live in the Dora Boeke apartment. the groom works with his father in farming.
