Fire Destroys Barn on Ryan Farm in Grundy County
A one o clock Tuesday morning fire destroyed a large 54 by 44 foot barn on the O A Ryan place in Grundy county. Contents including 500 bales straw 156 bales alfalfa 300 bales clover and timothy 2 cows 3 brood sows and 21 pigs were lost. A nearby machine shed partly burned and a corn crib damaged. Barn contents valued at 1315. barn value not available. Fire blamed on wiring short after spontaneous combustion unlikely. Fire siren sounded in Eldora at 12 20. Eldora and Whitten firemen aided along with neighbors. The farm lies two miles south of Highway 57 and east of the Grundy county line.
