Rites Thursday For John Wilts
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church for John Wilts 74 of Steamboat Rock. He died Monday at the Eldora Hospital after a stroke and complications. Born in Hardin county July 16, 1883, he was the son of Otto and Fannie Wills. He farmed near Steamboat Rock until 1945 when he moved into town. Surviving are Mrs. Wills, two sons Otto of Clarksville and Abraham of Steamboat Rock, and two daughters Mrs. Car Reiter of Steamboat Rock and Mrs. Roy Luiken of Eldora.

A work crew of over 20 with hand tools and several tractors cleared brush and stumps from the Iowa River aft bank near the high bridge at Eldora. They graded the area and the road to the new boat launching site, with work on the ramp still needed. 4x4 concrete slabs were donated for the ramp but transport to the river edge is unavailable. more gravel will be added. A Sunday session is planned to finish the launching area. Names of workers include Ray Loewen and Leonard Blair among many others.
