Freshmen Excursion Set On The Princess Next Friday

The Freshman class plans a 6 45 P M trip on the excursion boat The Princess to Hanover landing up the river to Vevay and back. The Red Men of Madison stage the event with an orchestra from Madison providing music and a dance floor aboard. Tickets cost fifty cents. committee members include C Barnes R Pence G Harris W C Cully and Helen McEwen S Allison and Lara Garner arranged the program with Prof and Mrs Montgomery as chaperons.

Spring Term Opens at Normal Training School

The spring term started with thirty four students enrolled by noon and more have joined since. All rooms are in use with two classes meeting in Union Literary Society Hall. Most courses focus on Educational Departments with some advanced common grade studies. Certification will be granted for Class A or B as per the State Board. Enrolled: Reid H. Hanover College Preserves Early Theological Collection

A Hanover College library exhibit reveals about thirty rare volumes dating to the 16th century or earlier. Highlights include a 1524 Concord antiae Graecolatinae Testamenti Novi and a 1632 Johann Buxtorf concordance bound with James Gray’s provenance. The McLean Library origins and 1829 30 acquisition efforts are noted, marking the collection’s deep historical ties.

Inter-class Tennis Results After Rain Delays

Weather cleared on Wednesday and Thursday allowing matches across classes. Trotter and Johnston won six straight games in men's doubles, Sutherland and Emery won mixed doubles for the freshmen, and seniors Hart Montgomery won men’s doubles 6-0 while Lawson Webb took mixed 6-0. Freshmen forfeited women’s. juniors beat freshmen 6-0 in men’s, 6-1 in women’s. juniors 2-6 freshmen in mixed.

Base Ball Results For The Past Week

The week’s schedule shows the Freshmen leading as rain halted games on Monday and Tuesday. The Juniors beat the Seniors 9 to 7 in a high scoring affair, the Freshmen routed the Sophomores 13 to 3, and the Sophomores defeated the Seniors 15 to 8. A rain delay and a forfeited extra inning left the Seniors and Freshmen tied 5-5 before the game ended.
