May Queen and Student Council Leader Elected at Hanover
Suzanne Rankin is named May Queen and Guy Andress wins the new Student Council presidency. Next Tuesday, all Hanoverians may take the afternoon off for a river cruise aboard the steamer AVALON from Hanover Beach at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Merrill Scott notes boarding by 1 p.m. The event, a spring boat ride, is a long-standing all college outing with dancing, sun, bridge and canasta, refreshments, and parking rules overseen by male council members.

Hanover College Adds Two Professors for Next Year
President Albert G. Parker Jr. announced the appointment of Howard L. Binkley and Dr. John Phelan to the Hanover College faculty. Binkley will teach economics and Phelan sociology, both taking duties September 2. Binkley is completing a PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. Phelan comes from Carleton College where he led sociology and anthropology.

Suzanne Rankin will be crowned Queen Suzanne the First as Hanover selects the May Day court. Maids of Honor include Nancy Austin Barbara Dowden Olive Hopping Jeraldine Horn Barbara Hosler Dorothy Johnson Catherine Kirchmier and Nancy Robinson. Queen will name escorts musicians arch bearers and jesters for the procession.

New Council
Shoe Shine Film to Be Shown at Public Affairs Forum
The 1947 Academy Award winning film Shoe Shine will be shown Thursday night at the Auditorium, starting 7 30. The PAF Institute shares costs with a 35 cent minimum per person and a 25 cent donation to defray expenses. A labor management panel precedes the film with Lynn Layton Paul Suit Ruth Murphy among speakers. Friday features an assembly by Eric Dehn and a panel on international affairs with Eugene Shewan Jeraldine Horn and Barbara Clement moderated by Dr. Robert Bowers. Clifton Utley will deliver Friday night’s address to close the second Public Affairs Institute.
