Upstate Trip Brings Two Losses for Contested Baseball Visit

The team, hampered by injuries, lost to DePauw 10 to 1 and to Rose Poly 4 to 0 in Terre Haute after an earlier cancelled game with State Normal due to muddy fields. Read notes cover innings with multiple errors, miscues, and late scoring on wild plays as Hanover suffers a rough road trip.

Senior speakers elected and announced for commencement

The senior honor students were announced. Miss Margaret Howk won the vale dictory and F C Millis earned the salutatorian title. James K K Almond ranked second but was ineligible for the honor, as he had not been a student for three years. The class elected two other speakers, Mr Almond and President Mr Voris, for commencement and named Mr Almond as toastmaster for the Alumni banquet.

Southern trip looms for baseball team this week

After returning from a rough Up-State trip, the varsity resumes practice at Woodsfield. The schedule is heavy with Georgetown University on Thursday, Transylvania on Friday, and Central University on Saturday. Pitcher Dawson is in top form and "Rube" leads the offense as the squad nears its Southern journey. The final tryout showed strong infield and outfield performance in a nine inning scrimmage.

Rev Walter E Kunkle Ordained at Bloomfield Church

Rev Walter E Kunkle of the class of 1907 has been ordained pastor of the Presbyterian church in Bloomfield by the Presbytery meeting at Bedford. Rev J S Hawk college pastor delivered the charge and Prof J B Garritt offered the prayer.

Young People Celebrate 37th Anniversary of Mission Society

The Young Peoples Christian Associations joined with the Home and Foreign Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian Church to celebrate the thirty seventh anniversary. Reports were given by Mrs. Phelps treasurer Miss Garrett secretary and Mrs. Lee the societies delegate to the Presbytery meeting at Charleston Ind. Miss Mary Hawk treasurer of the Light Bearers Band reported. Dr. Millis delivered an address and Mrs. Hawk presided.

Death of Rev Eberle W Thompson Near Dayton Ohio

Rev Eberle W Thompson died at his home near Dayton on Easter morning April 16 in his 73rd year. Born January 25 1839 near Greensburg Indiana he graduated Hanover College 1863 and Princeton Theological Seminary 1866. He married Elizabeth Foster in 1866 and four children survive. He served churches in Big Mound Iowa and Indiana Illinois Kentucky North Dakota and Ohio with last charge Bloomingburg Ohio resigning 1909. Funeral held April 18 at Greensburg Indiana. interment Greensburg cemetery.

Primary Oratorical Contest Opens Week

The regular primary oratorical contest will be held during commencement week to select Hanover's delegate for the Up-State Contest next year. Prospects are bright for an excellent contest with many new entrants. Expected entrants include Harold Mann, R. S. Sitler, R. Kehoe, KE. Swan, J. S. Rogers, C. E. Drew, and Van Pelt.
