Koehler Returns to Hanover as Math Professor
President John Horner announced the appointment of doctoral candidate Donald O. Koehler to Hanover College’s mathematics department. Koehler, a 1958 Hanover graduate, holds a master’s from Indiana University where he is pursuing a Ph.D. He will join the faculty at the start of the next academic year.

Steve Caldwell Wins National Defense Scholarship for Grad Study
Steve Caldwell has been awarded a National Defense Scholarship for graduate work in psychology. The three year award funds a master's at DePauw University with a $2000 grant and full tuition waived, followed by PhD studies at Purdue University with $2200 then $2400 yearly grants and full tuition waivers. Caldwell, former president of Phi Delta Theta, is senior chairman of Campus Fellowship and treasurer of Student Council.

Tate Awarded Study Grant to Tokyo for Post Doctoral Work
Dr. E. Mowbray Tate receives a study grant from Indiana University to extend post doctoral studies in Tokyo. He plans to deepen his Japanese studies and explore new Buddhist sects since the war. He departs in June and returns to Hanover at the end of August.

Campus Phone Exchange Will Soon Be Reality
The campus will implement a PBX based exchange in the new Administration building linking each college building with direct dialing codes and corridor phones. Trunk lines have been installed, operator coverage will run 8 AM to 11 PM daily, and student operators may staff shifts after spring vacation.
