Hanover College Names Co Valedictorians For 1950 Graduates

Hanover College announces co valedictorians for the class of 1950 Samuel Decker and Edwin Steiner, both with 2.98 averages, plus salutatorian Byron Haines at 2.97. Decker is a Language major from Star City and a former Independent Men president, Steiner a Chemistry major from the Philippines with Chorus and science honorary society ties, Haines from Elkhart is a Chemistry major and past football manager with multiple student leadership roles. Also graduating Magna Cum Laude include Geraldine Horn Barbara Dowden and Merrill Scott with other Cum Laude names listed.

PAF Names Al Speck 1950 Forum Coordinator

The Public Affairs Forum selected Al Speck as its 1950 coordinator replacing Gordon Miller. Marilyn Megorden becomes secretary, Charles Friedersdorf treasurer, and John Trask archivist. The six session institute is set for May 11 and 12 with morning assemblies, afternoon discussions, and evening programs in the auditorium.

The Hanover Players present Henning Nelms drama Only An Orphan Girl in four acts on May 26 27 and June 10 under Professor James F Dunlap. Interfraternity Council funds Hanover High for band uniforms

Proceeds from the IFC sponsored Faculty All Star game on March 10 total $74.25 and were presented to Hanover High School for band uniforms. The check was forwarded to the school principal, IFC spokesman Larry Gilliland said.

Spring Fling Planned To Wind Up Hanover Coed Week

Hanover students plan a Saturday April 15 Spring Fling featuring a dog show a comedy track meet and all college picnic treasure hunt and card contest Thirteen organizations are expected to compete with prizes for top men and women groups Points awarded to the first five places and rules cover team entries and partner drawings Dog show entries have no dog limit and require a name tag on the sponsor’s ribbon to avoid duplication. stray dogs must be removed after the campus event.

Annual Co-Ed Week Follows Spring Vacation

HC announces Co-ed Week from April 11 to 15 with events at Donner Hall and Wood’s Field House. The week features dancing, a grand march, corsage prizes, and the usual role reversals with girls paying and assisting, 75 cents per couple admission for the Saturday dance.

Students seeking next year’s work must complete an application form available at the college office. Limited positions exist and priority goes to those most in need. No work will be assigned without a filled form, covering dining halls, library, grounds, offices, and laboratories.
