Varsity Ties With Hoos Hoo Team After Close Defeat
The varsity quintet lost to the fast Hoos Hoo team 28 to 20 on home floor last Friday. Hanover’s Johnston led with three field goals and two foul shots in the first half, as the team showed developing form despite only two practices since vacation. The Kent and Saluda game tied 15 15 after overtime. December 21 rematch had Hanover winning 22 17.

Week of Prayer Observed at College and Local News
The Presbyterian week of prayer was observed with night meetings led by Dr. Hawk and talks from Dr. Hawk, President Millis, and professors. Albion College completed a $40,000 campaign for a new Physical Laboratory. Harry Wells '17 was appointed deputy county auditor starting January 1. Miss Margery E. McLean of Chicago and James E. Almond '11 have become engaged. Almond will pursue newspaper work in the West. Point House elected monitors with Alice Radcliffe as head and Helen Hughes, Gwladys Roberts as second, Carolyn Hargan as third.

New Library Additions and Cataloging Efforts
A large number of books were added to the library with Miss Lee and Miss Jaig cataloging and indexing. Most volumes were purchased from McClung. The agriculture department received its largest allocation, covering various agricultural topics. Several works address labor, socialism, and psychology with an educational focus. A Flora of the United States and Canada in three volumes was added to the biology department. Another catalog list is on order from Miss Lee.

Burger Chemistry Prize Created in Honor of Earl V Burger
The Burger family of Howell Indiana offers a chemistry prize in memory of Earl V Burger class of 1897 a physician in Howell who died in 1907. Professor Young announced the prize in chapel last Tuesday and it will go to the student with the highest average in the chemistry department this year the award totals twenty dollars and will be presented at commencement.

Sehlbrede Prize Topic Set for Latin America Needs
Professor Culbertson announced the Sehlbrede Missionary Memorial prize with a $20 award for essays on The Needs of Latin America. Conditions require at least three contestants, 4000 words, three tapewritten copies, and submission by May 10 with a reading list. Ira Allison, class of 1917, won last year.
