New S C Officers To Be Elected At Wednesday Meeting

The Student Council will elect a president and vice president to serve the remainder of the year at next week's meeting replacing graduates Robert Frederick and Jane Kemp. Nomination by a committee includes Frederick Kemp Merrill Scott and Barbara Dowden. Nancy Robinson and Ralph Smith named to complete Kemp and Frederick terms.

Cash Prizes for Hill Thoughts Writer's Contest

Hill Thoughts announces a writer contest with three cash prizes of ten dollars each for best poem, essay, and short story. Submissions to Charles Fox or editors Fitton and Reynolds by February 20. A three-member judging board will select winners. editors include Leland Miles and Norma Brackett among others.

Rabbi Greenwald to Talk on Jewish Customs

Rabbi Milton Greenwald of the Washington Avenue Temple Evansville will discuss Jewish Religious Customs in Wednesday's assembly. An active community leader he is past president of the Evansville Rotary Club and the Philharmonic Orchestral Association. A Louisville native and graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Hebrew Union College he received an honorary doctorate from Evansville College for community service.

Papers on DP Students for Hanover College Admission

The Hanover College student committee received credentials for four displaced persons candidates from W.S.S. F. The men, currently in DP camps in Germany, come from Estonia Latvia Poland and the Ukraine. If admitted they would join as sophomores or juniors and eight campus organizations have signaled support for the project.

Guthrie Announces Schedule For Semester Examinations

Hanover College will begin semester exams on Saturday January 21 1949 50 year with a revised schedule to give instructors an extra day for grading Examinations start times cover MWF and US classes by hour and day through January 26 including combined sections Religion Philosophy English Economics and TTS classes

Hanover campus hosts two related events open to all students. Miss Joan McCord Indiana Occupational Therapy Association president will discuss occupational therapy as a career in Classic Hall room to be announced. A Social Science Club panel on bringing a displaced student to Hanover features Ted Kelly Ann Wooters Violet Andrew Herb Strauss Jack Riner and Robin Parker with Marjorie Yaple as co ordinator. The meeting runs 8 PM after a time change from 7 PM and invites audience participation.

Rushees to Sign Preference Cards January 19

At a special assembly on Thursday January 19 eligible rushees will receive preference cards. The signing will be followed by a fraternity vote on Monday night January 30 and the lists posted on the bulletin board in Classic the next Tuesday morning. Eligibility requires Hanover residency of one semester.

Hospital Chaplain to Address Hanover Assembly

Hospital Chaplain C. J. Scherzer of Deaconess Hospital Evansville will speak at Hanover Assembly Monday morning. A Elmhurst College and Eden Theological Seminary graduate, he serves on the Federal Council of Churches Religion and Health commission and as secretary of the Chaplains Association of American Protestant Hospitals. He writes Meditations for the Sick and coauthored Understanding Christianity, with a forthcoming work The Church and Healing. He teaches psychology sociology and religion at Deaconess School of Nursing. Dr. Leonard Kramer calls Scherzer a pioneer in this new Christian service blending religion and psychiatry to ease suffering.
